The Pound fell to its weakest level in six weeks on Friday after data released indicated Britain’s key services sector grew the least in five months in February, a sign that overall economic growth may flounder this quarter.
Sterling fell to levels last seen in mid January, the day Prime Minister Theresa May explained her plan for the U.K.’s exit from the EU would prioritize recapturing control of laws and immigration at the cost of losing access to the single market.
UK PMI fell to 53.3 from 54.5 last month. While that’s above the 50-mark that divides expansion from contraction, it’s a bigger drop than economists had expected.
The Pound dropped 0.3% to 1.2228 against the Dollar, its sixth straight daily decline. Sterling fell against the Euro to 1.1548.
