Pound falls as Osborne and Greece are keeping U.K. rates low. 

The chancellors of the Exchequer George Osborne and Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras have weakened the pound.

The longer the deadlock over Greece goes on, the more concerned traders become that Britain’s economy and its currency will suffer from the fallout. As the prospect that Osborne’s special budget yesterday will speed up spending cuts.  

These factors are increasing speculation that the Bank of England will push back the rate hike to the third quarter of 2016. Only two weeks ago, money markets expected the rate hike to be in May.

BOE Governor Mark Carney is expected keep interest rates at a record-low of 0.5% today.  

Sterling continued to weaken even though house prices have increased the most in five months in June. 

The Pound fell 0.6% to 1.5373 against the Dollar yesterday morning, after falling as low as 1.5368, the weakest level since June 9. The Pound also fell 0.7% to 1.3845 against the Euro, set for its biggest daily decline since June 8.

European leaders have set a Sunday deadline for Greece to accept a rescue, saying otherwise they’ll take the unprecedented step of propelling the country out of the currency union.
