Some economists don’t fear a Greek exit from the Euro because they can count the costs. Most political leaders are worried because they can’t.
No one really knows how a Greek exit would be arranged, but the case for it runs like this: with 11 million people, Greece represents 3.2% of the population and 1.8% of the output of the 19-nation euro zone’s 10.1 trillion-euro economy.
U.K. services grew more than economists expected in June, suggesting an enhancing recovery that remains overly reliant on domestic demand.
An index of services, the largest part of the economy, jumped to 58.5 from 56.5 in May, Market Economics said on Friday, beating the 57.5 forecast of economists in a Bloomberg survey. The report suggests the economy grew 0.5% in the second quarter after a 0.4% rise at the start of the year.
The pound weakened to 1.4050 this morning against the Euro. The pound extended its gains against the Dollar. It was up 0.1% at 1.5625 this morning.
