Pound Soares After UK PM Calls for snap election

The Pound prolonged its rise made during the European session, rising to its highest since early October, after U.K. PM Theresa May announced a snap election for June.

The Pound continued to rise over night versus both the Dollar and the Euro, reaching a high of 1.2856 against the Dollar and 1.1977 against the Euro.

After May announced a snap election on Tuesday, the pound soared over 2 cents from 1.25 to 1.2744 against the Dollar. Economists are now predicting a rate above $1.30 by the time the election comes around in June.

With the French election looming the Pound could stay above the €1.20 mark depending on the outcome.
