Output in the UK’s industrial sector experienced a surprising contraction in February therefore causing using the Pound to fall.
Industrial production, which accounts for 15% of the UK economy, declined by 0.7% in February which is its second consecutive month of declines and defying expectations of a return to growth.
The data displayed that manufacturing output was also down 0.1% month on month. Economists had forecasted a rise of 0.3%.
Sterling weakened after this data, falling 0.3% against the Dollar to 1.243 and to 1.1681 against the Euro
