House Prices In London Fall To A 6 Year Annual Low
London house prices set their biggest annual decline in almost six years in February as high values deterred buyers.
The average asking price in London dropped 0.4% to £641,116 this month from a year earlier. This is the first yearly fall in 6 years. Asking prices rose 2.6% from last month which is the weakest monthly gain for a February since 2009 during the depths of the recession.
For the U.K. as a whole, asking prices increased 2% to an average £306,231, the largest monthly rise in a year. However that is still the weakest February performance in 8 years and well under the 5% average gain for the month over the past seven years. That meant the national annual gain of 2.3% was the slowest since April 2013.
The Pound rose slightly against the Dollar and the Euro over the weekend to 1.2447 & 1.1720.
