The Pound rose after the ONS published the UK industrial and manufacturing production data this morning, displaying that the overall industrial activity prolonged its stable expansionary mode in December.
Manufacturing output increased 2.1% in Dec in contrast with a revised 1.4% rise seen in Nov, while total industrial output also showed an outstanding performance on monthly basis, with the figures showing a 1.1% growth in the reported month, against +0.2% expected and a 2.0% rebound seen in Nov.
UK manufacturing production also grew 4.0% in Dec, compared with forecasts of +1.8%. Total industrial output also climbed 4.3% from a year earlier, bettering predictions of a 3.2% rise and against the previous +2.2% print.
The Pound Rose after this data to 1.2509 from 1.2467 against the Dollar. Sterling also rose against the Euro to 1.1754.
