Pound Falls After UK Retail Sales Data

The Pound Fell this morning after Data showed that UK retails sales for January Fell.

The monthly retail sales figure for January showed at -0.3%. Analysts has predicted a reading of 0.9%. There was also a revision to the December figure which was cut to -2.1% from a previous 1.9%. The ONS also found that retail sales fell by 0.4% over the last quarter, in comparison to the previous three months - the first fall since December 2013.

Sterling fell over 0.5% against the Dollar after this data to 1.2407. The pound also declined against the Euro to 1.1653.
