Greece stumbles closer to default.

European officials resumed talks on Greece’s bailout on Thursday after a day of negotiations broke up in the early hours without ending the deadlock that has brought the country on the end of a default.

With the Greek government saying it stood strong in the whirlwind of meetings in Brussels on Wednesday, European Union officials said the talks generated little progress and no breakthrough was in sight. Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and the heads of the three creditor institutions agreed to rejoin first thing on Thursday.

Greece could tap euro-area funds of as much as 3.35 billion Euros by early July if it can grab a deal with its creditors, thanks to profit-sharing pledges from member nations’ central banks.

Euro-area finance ministers are debating whether to release some of the funds within days if Greece can seal an aid accord with international authorities, according to three officials.

The Pound fell 0.3% to $1.5682 against the Dollar. It gained as much as 0.2% to 1.4114 against the Euro, before pulling back to 1.4028, 0.4% weaker.
