Pound Ends Longest Winning Streak

The Pound ended its longest winning streak in almost nine months against the Euro as European officials talked up the possibility of an agreement this week to bail out Greece, reducing the U.K. as a safe haven.

Dutch Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem, who chaired the meetings with his euro-area counterparts, said a plan put in placed by Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was an opportunity to get a deal done this week. 

If a deal was to go through for Greece to get another bailout and everything is fine. The weakness that we’ve seen in the Euro-sterling has all been Greek-related.

The Pound weakened 0.7% to 1.389 against the Euro yesterday afternoon, after touching 1.4030 on June 19, the strongest level this month. It has strengthened for the last 9 days, the longest run since Sept. 26.  The Pound fell for the first time in seven days against the Dollar, falling 0.4% to 1.5827.
