The Pound has finally made a sustained break through on the Australian Dollar. Levels have now reached over 2.00 AUD to the Pound. It has taken a few weeks but for most of last week GBP/AUD has remained 2+ creating excellent buying opportunities for those looking to buy Australian Dollars with the Pound.
As of yesterday the rate rose to 2.04 but is looking to drop back to the more normal levels of 2.00 in the coming weeks. The reason for the dramatic increase isn’t just due to the extreme strength of the Pound but also due to the major weakness in the Australian market. The Australian commodity exports being one of these major weaknesses.
The Pound strengthened against the Euro 0.9% the highest level since May 27th earlier this morning reaching levels of 1.4121 as of 8am. While the Pound weakened against the Dollar for a second consecutive day dropping 0.6% to the level of 1.5757.
A deal for Greece to stay in the EU is looking more likely to be agreed. Betting agencies are also backing Greece to retain their position in the EU and we should know for definite in the coming weeks.
