The Pound eliminated an earlier fall against the Dollar after a gauge of U.K. manufacturing surprisingly grew in April at the fastest pace in three years.
UK Manufacturing PMI advanced to 57.3 last month, beating the median forecast of 54 and up from 54.2 last month. This manufacturing report shows that strong demand came from the domestic market as well as overseas. It also shows the prolonging pattern of export support for UK companies from the weaker pound. Sterling’s sharp fall since the Brexit vote has made UK goods cheaper for foreign buyers. But on the other hand, it has also increased the cost of imports.
Sterling rose overnight against the Dollar to 1.2925. The Pound fell slightly from 1.1859 to 1.1835
