Pound Has Biggest Monthly Gain In A Year

The Pound didn’t seem to flinch after slower-than-forecast economic growth in the U.K. to climb for its biggest monthly advance in a year.

Gross domestic product advanced 0.3% in the first quarter from the prior three months which was below the 0.4% median forecast of economists. However, the currency stayed above the 1.2900 level and was set for its second monthly gain versus the Dollar after PM Theresa May announced a snap election for June on April 18.

The pound traded 0.3% higher yesterday against the Dollar at 1.2937 before falling to 1.2861 this morning. Yesterday’s gain took it to a monthly gain of 3.1%.
