The Bank of England will go quiet as the British Parliament dissolved in the run up to the election. Sterling is heading for its worst month against the Dollar in two years.
The general election campaign kicked off yesterday, and with polls suggesting there’ll be no clear winner, a gauge of volatility on Sterling approached the highest level since September 2011. There is expected to be a lot of volatility in the markets in the run up to the election.
The Pound fell 0.5% to $1.4802 yesterday afternoon falling to $1.4770 this morning, extending its monthly decline to 4.1%, the steepest since February 2013. Sterling strengthened 0.1% to €1.376 against the Euro.
