The Pound suffered the biggest impact in the currency market of the Brussels explosions amongst speculation the tragedy boosts the case of campaigners who want Britain leave the EU in the summer.
Two explosions ripped through the Brussels airport departure hall and a third rocked a downtown subway station this morning, causing deaths and injuries, according to initial Belgian news reports.
Sterling was the worst-performer among 16 major peers on as a result to this, falling for a second day versus both the Dollar and the Euro.
The pound is already trailing other currencies this year amongst speculation a vote to leave the EU on June 23 will set back the nation’s economic recovery.
The Pound fell 0.6% against the Dollar to 1.4282 as of 9:20 a.m. and weakened 0.3% to 1.2747 against the Euro.
