Deputy Bank of England Governor warns sterling could be in for a of big fall on a bad Brexit outcome.
Sterling could be in for a big drop if the U.K. crashes out of the EU in a disruptive Brexit, according to a deputy governor of the BOE.
The pound is being driven by negotiations with the EU, with its current value reflecting several possible outcomes. That means large swings are possible once the outcome becomes known.
As talks in Brussels on Wednesday failed to break the deadlock, Theresa May is considering extending the transition period after formally leaving the EU in March. EU leaders decided that not enough progress had been made so far to call a summit to sign a divorce agreement in November
Sterling fell to $1.30172 against the dollar. The pound weakened against the euro to 1.134.
