Foreign Exchange Daily Market Update 06/02/2018

Pound strength may depend on BOE rate hike.

Sterling strength may need the Bank of England to raise interest rates in May.  

The pound saw first weekly decline against the dollar since mid-December, as worst then expected U.K. data and renewed examination on Theresa May’s future amid Brexit talks. The pound has been kept up from the expectations that the BOE could raise interest rates as soon as its May meeting.

The pound fell 0.4% to $1.3915 this morning against the dollar, having appreciated almost five percent this year. It weakened 0.3% to 1.125 against the Euro.
