The Pound touched a one-week low against the Dollar before date that economists have predicted to show claims for unemployment benefits increased in June, having dropped a month earlier.
Sterling fell against all bar one of its 16 major peers Tuesday even as data showed annual inflation progressed more last month than analysts predicted. As with the consumer-price numbers, the labor reports do not fully capture the period since Britain voted June 23 to leave the EU.
The Pound initially pared losses after the inflation data, which showed the rate rose to 0.5% from 0.3% in May, the respite proved temporary, with the currency about 0.5% lower as of 9:50 a.m..
The U.K. unemployment rate is expected to have held at 5% in the three months through May.
The Pound was little changed at 1.3101 against the Dollar as of 7:13 a.m., after falling earlier to 1.3065, the lowest since July 12. Sterling was at 1.1892 against the Euro.
